Unveiling the Best in Tower Buff in Destiny 2

Guardian Games, the inaugural holiday event of Year 6 in Destiny 2, takes inspiration from the Olympics as player classes compete to accumulate the highest score by turning in special Medallions earned through activities and Contender Cards sold by Eva Levante in the Tower. The class that emerges victorious on the most days during this three-week event will claim ultimate glory.

Participating in Guardian Games not only grants players bragging rights but also offers a plethora of fantastic rewards. This event presents an excellent opportunity to obtain upgrade materials and Masterworked Guardian Games weapons. Additionally, astute Destiny 2 players may notice that they receive a buff called Best in Tower upon visiting the Tower to turn in their Medallions.

Understanding the Best in Tower Buff Best in Tower is a unique and temporary buff attainable exclusively while players are at the Tower during Guardian Games. When a player possesses this buff, their character is adorned with a soft golden aura reminiscent of a spotlight. The Best in Tower buff made its debut during Guardian Games 2022 and has returned for this year’s event. If a player possesses the Best in Tower buff, it signifies that they currently hold the highest Guardian Games score within the entire Tower.

However, should another player with a higher Guardian Games score arrive, they will acquire the buff, resulting in the previous holder losing it. Irrespective of its duration, Destiny 2 players forfeit the Best in Tower buff once they leave the Tower. Nevertheless, if they return to the Tower and regain the highest Guardian Games score, the Best in Tower buff will be reinstated.

While certain Guardian Games buffs confer advantages to players, the Best in Tower buff does not offer any gameplay benefits. This special buff is purely cosmetic, serving as a symbol of pride and allowing players to capture captivating screenshots. There are no associated Triumphs tied to acquiring the Best in Tower, and it is not a prerequisite for obtaining the Champ title.

Obtaining the Best in Tower Buff With the explanation of the Best in Tower buff, here is how players can acquire it. The Guardian Games score refers to a player’s current highest score obtained from the Guardian Games Competitive playlist. In this playlist, players must complete a unique version of a Nightfall Strike featuring a plethora of active modifiers and Champions. Earning points entails securing kills and Vanguard Medals, which are obtained through killing sprees using specific weapons, damage types, defeating Champions, and more. The cumulative score at the end of the activity determines a player’s Guardian Games score.

To attain the Best in Tower buff, Destiny 2 players should aim for the Gold or Platinum Threshold scores (150,000 and 175,000, respectively). This significantly increases their chances of acquiring the Best in Tower buff when they load into the Tower and redeem their Medallions at the podium.
